It is unacceptable that the Receptionist ask what an appointment is required for, it has no relevance to the booking process and I dont particulary want to tell an untrained person why I need to see a doctor and a room full of other people. Also why does repeat prescription request keep 'not being received' this has happened to myself and others I know on many occasions and is totally unacceptable. The surgery is very run down and dirty looking. I have to check the chair is safe and not wobbly everytime I go to sit on one. The toilets are dated and therefore cannot possibly be cleaned properly and to be honest the whole practice is depressing. Not enough female doctors available to make appointments with. Sometimes it is just not appropriate to see a male doctor when you are female. Not enough Nurses to complete smear tests. I hate to wait over 5 months before I could get an appointment for my smear test. This is unacceptable and with a history of abnormal smears caused a great deal of anguish.

I have found Bedminster Family Practice very helpful and efficient. Doctors, Nurses and Reception staff are very polite, respectful and friendly. The new procedure for booking appointments over the telephone is more problematic than past systems used for booking an appointment. I would recommend this GP surgery for their expert knowledge and respectful manner.

I'm very happy with the service I get from the practice.Reception staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful; nurses and Drs also. I've always felt the Drs take me seriously and explain things well, including what my choices are. People apologise if there are delays in being seen, and that feels important. Getting though on the phone to book an appointment is a pain, but I think that's true of every surgery and is unavoidable given the workload. I like the online booking system for appointments and have used this a couple of times now. The times offered feel like a long time ahead when you're booking them, but for routine things or follow-up appointments that's fine actually. Twice I've needed urgent appointments/response for one of my children. Once (ages ago) I arrived in reception in a panic with my baby who'd fallen out of her high chair onto concrete... staff let me see a GP without an appointment. I've never said thank you so I'm saying it now. More recently I got good phone support from the on call GP about a worry that felt urgent at the time. Generally very satisfied. Thank you.

I think the practice is excellent - I have always been treated, by all members of staff, with courtesy, friendliness and professionalism. However, the new system of only being able to book GP appointments 48 hours in advance is almost unworkable for patients in my experience. I tried to make an appointment recently, started ringing at 8.30 promptly (8.29 actually!), tried 16 times to get through, but the line was permanently engaged. By the time I finally got through at 9.05 I was told that all the appointments had gone for the next day but one and I should 'call back tomorrow' to start the same struggle all over again for the Monday (I was ringing on a Wednesday). In the end I had to settle for a telephone conversation that day with a doctor I had never met, and who clearly had little idea of what was going on with me. I'm sure the new system has been thought up with care, to deal with a real problem, but I felt really let down by a practice that hitherto - on the rare occasions when I have needed to use it - I have had nothing but praise for.
